Summit Fire Apparatus has been in business since 1957. The company started as Summit Welding and Fabricating and in 1975 the company name was changed to Summit Fire Apparatus. With the new company name, Summit Fire Apparatus began a new adventure with emphasis on fire apparatus refurbishment. With several successful years of completing fire truck repairs and fire apparatus refurbishment, the company owners decided in 1980 to change the mission of Summit Fire Apparatus from a refurbishment repair shop to a full fledged fire apparatus manufacturer. By 1994 Summit Fire Apparatus had doubled in size and now occupied a 31,000 SQ/FT state of the art apparatus manufacturing facility. Summit has developed a full line of fire apparatus that includes pumpers, rescue pumpers, tankers, pumper tankers, walk in and non walk in light and heavy rescues, brush trucks and firefighting specialty units.
The Wagontown Fire Company was established May 19, 1947. The original firehouse was one room building built in 1948. The firehouse was located on Wagontown Road south of Kings Highway to the rear of the current station. Wagontown’s second firehouse which is pictured below along Rt. 340 or West Kings Highway which has served us up until 2007 when the new firehouse was completed.
In 2007 their current facility was complete on the property directly to the east. This modern facility was dedicated on September 22, 2007 on which we also celebrated our 60th Anniversary. Today the Wagontown Fire Company provides the following services out of the new state of the art fire station. Provideing fire suppression services, Vehicle and Technical Rescue, Water Rescue, Wildland Firefighting and now with their partnership with the Westwood Fire Company EMS they provide a BLS Ambulance that covers the two townships.
