Description
A Hale Shift Fork is a component found in Hale fire pumps and valve systems. It’s part of the pump shift assembly, which essentially controls the shifting of the pump’s transmission, allowing it to switch between gear ratios and thereby adjust the water flow rate.
There are two main types:
-
VPS (Valve Position Sensor) Shift Fork: This type is used with Hale fire pumps or valve systems with an electronic valve position sensor. The VPS sensor sends signals to the shift assembly, telling it which gear to engage. The shift fork then physically moves the gears into the desired position.
-
Manual Shift Fork: This type is used with older Hale fire pumps or valve systems that don’t have a VPS sensor. The operator manually shifts the gears using a lever or knob. The shift fork then physically moves the gears into the desired position.
